Safety is a Priority,
That's Why We're
Doing This
Safety during the COVID-19 Pandemic is of our utmost concern. To reduce contact, Ms. McCoy will only instruct a maximum of 5 households for in-person learning. As a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) she is highly conscientious and considerate of safety and sanitation practices. Clothing and materials will be clean and sanitized before coming to your house and no visits will happen directly from one client to the next. A mask will be worn at all times, temperature checks done before starting lessons, and both Ms. McCoy and your child will wash hands before and after lessons. Distance will be kept between Ms. McCoy and your child as much as your space and the lesson content allows.
Different Students
Require Different
Approaches to Learning
As a special education teacher and the parent of a child with multiple disabilities, Ms. McCoy is very aware of how important differentiated instruction is. She's familiar with a wide variety of learning styles and preferences. Ms. McCoy is experienced, supportive, and patient with children that have emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. It’s also helpful to understand the impact that attention and sensory needs can have when children are learning, and she is prepared to offer an array of solutions to maximize your child’s learning.

The impact of COVID-19 on student achievement and what it may mean for educators
Teachers are scrambling to adapt content for an online platform and parents are juggling work responsibilities (if not joblessness) with caring for and educating their own children. Students themselves are faced with isolation, anxiety about a deadly virus, and uncertainty about the future.

Once a kid gets Ms. McCoy to teach them, they'll never want anyone else!

Knowing that my children are getting the one on one attention they're used to is imperative. I need to know that during these times, my kids aren't being passed over, or missing important learning lessons. Ms. McCoy gives them the dedicated teacherly focus that I only WISH they had in brick and mortar schools.
